If you’re reading this in Border’s, now’s the perfect time to read this.
As a bonus, note the picture of the blog’s author.
Maybe it’s me, but it reminds me of someone.
I admired The Simpsons restraint when they endorsed a candy bar. I was a little surprised to see the recent Burger King commercials. But I did a double-take when I saw these Japanese ads, courtesy of japander.com
On the other hand, if Leonardo Dicaprio can do it:
Why not Homer?
A Good Argument for Doing Something About Climate Change, Even if It's Nothing to be Concerned About
I just watched this. He — I should find out who this is — makes a good case for doing everything we can to lessen global warming. Even if it’s not human caused. Even if it proves to be a climatic flash in the pan.
In the elbow-bumping world of comic strips, legacy strips are sore topics. That attitude, however, doesn’t extend to comic books/graphic novels (as far as I know. There are readers who loathe Superman, but it’s not because the character has been continued by someone(s) other than Siegel and Shuster.) I’m looking forward to reading both of these books, precisely because of the new artists.
I think it comes down to the medium. The comics page is a tight squeeze, while the comics rack can always be joined by another rack, and so on. If comic strips had the same space, who could begrudge the continuation of Snuffy Smith, Gasoline Alley, and others?
The solution would seem to be the internet, with its endless multiplicity of pages. But it hasn’t happened yet.
